I went for a little over 8 hours with all of the settings on, and when you're not using the batteries the sound is just OK.Good buy if you don't mind the battery life. The sound on these is great, as you'd expect. The battery life is a big downside though.
Better than my prev Creative NCs. I got it for $150 and its really worth the money. DO consider BOSE QC3 if u are getting this for $300 (although QC3 doesn't work without its proprietary rechargable battery).
and LEAKS badly. The audio quality is real good though. The audio even without NC is really good but as someone mentioned on some forum, the audio LEAKS.
APPLE iPOD + CREATIVE AURVANA = amazing combo. 4/5 rating DON'T USE IT IN LIBRARIES if u wanna hear loudly.
LOL.
But the real kick comes when all three functions are engaged, Noise cancelling, X-fi Crystilizer and Cmss (for movies).I've compared the X-fi to all Bose quiet-comfort and i'm still puzzled how the Aurvana X-fi , with its low price out performed them by a loooooooooooooooong shot.Strange BOSE is supposed to be one of the BEST in sound. One thing is for sure Creative made this Headphone with their hearts.Battery life is excellent, will give you long listening hours. Noise cancelling is superb.X-fi and Cmss Switch works wonders. The only downside to it is that its open and the music escapes from the headphone allowing any one near you to hear what you are listening to, just like they were listen to some AM radio broadcast. Before buying the Aurvana X-fi i searched all imaginable reviews and test on the net to compare it's noise cancelling capabilities and sound quality.I should admit that i was a bit at a lost cause some reviews says that the Aurvana is not worth it while others proclaimed it to be the best Noise cancelling headphone on this planet. So i bought one and.OH MY GOD. The sound that comes from this beast is is.undescribable.you've got to to try it.Sound is crystal clear, absolutely zero distortion even at MAX VOLUME.Bass is WOW.you can feel it deep inside your guts.
I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend them. I find these headphones just as good as the Bose units, but bbetter-constructed at a better price.
The cool thing about it though is the fact that they still work even though the battery is dead. Waste of 300 dollars. I guess if I really want to ghetto rig it I could super glue it then tape it shut, but its not even worth it anymore. I decided that it would be best to superglue the part back together. I am switching to a different company permanently. For those who still want to buy these despite the breakage, I would say that these were great headphones.
I have owned many Creative products in my life and I have been impressed in the beginning and let down in the end. As for the sound enhancements (Crystalizer and 3D) I thought that these worked great. What a shame because I thought these headphones were great. Unfortunately, after I tried to repair this with superglue it won't stay closed anymore. I always leave the crystalizer on all the time. The cushion is extremely soft around my ears.
I bought a 300 dollars speaker set that lasted about 3 months before the sub burnt out and they said they no longer support that model, and that they can't replace it. It is very unfortunate to see that only two months after having these headphones the part that adjusts the size snapped on me. The battery life lasted around 12 to 14 hours for me. Listening to music with the 3D feature sounds a little weird. Now the headphones. I got these headphones for Christmas last year, and I thought that these were the best headphones on the market.
I am a programmer, which leads me to sitting down hours on end. I'll definitely buy a new set of headphones from somewhere else when I have the money to buy something. It works fine now, but two days ago the other side snapped. When I play games and watch movies I turn the 3D on. Warranty is expired or B. Well, this product was the last straw. In my experience, they are more than willing to tell you that they won't fix your product because of: A. It is unfortunate, but I would NOT recommend this to anyone because of the cheap plastic design.
Overall, I thought these were great headphones for the two months that they lasted. Except for techno music. I would even go as far as to say DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CREATIVE. Crappy service. Like I said before, I have owned three products from them and I have only been happy with one, and that was my MP3 player that lasted me 4 years until it broke because of my own fault. The other thing that I would note is the fact that these headphones are extremely comfortable. They don't fix normal wear-and-tear. I asked Creative to repair the headphones for me and they said that it was normal wear and tear and that they wouldn't be able to fix it.
They still work for me perfectly, and I'll probably keep using them despite the ghetto rig. Having these headphones on for five hours straight is no problem. The glue can't hold it because of a metal part that seems to try and force it's way out. You just don't get all the cool features like noise-canceling and x-fi.
